This directory contains all the ivtv releases made by the ivtv project,
including the old pre-svn (Subversion) releases. The initial svn
repository was created by importing these pre-svn releases.

This readme gives a short overview of all the various release trees and the
history of the project.

The ivtv project started as a SourceForge CVS repository (ivtv-sf-cvs-repo.tar.bz2
contains the last CVS repository). Versions 0.1.6, 0.1.7 and 0.1.9 (there was
no 0.1.8) were official releases made from this repository. Kevin Thayer
continued work on a 0.1.10 release but this work was abandoned and no 0.1.10
was ever released from the CVS repository.

Chris Kennedy continued active development but for various reasons did not
use CVS, instead many .tar.gz archives were released. It started with the
0.1.9-osdstream series, followed by the 0.1.9-ng series. This was in turn
followed by the 0.1.10-pre2 series.

After 0.1.10-pre2-ck115e the 0.2.0 series was branched. Work also continued
on the 0.1.10-pre2 series which after 0.1.10-pre2-ck115i changed into the
0.3.0 series. This 0.3.0 series was abandoned and is now a dead-end branch.

After 0.2.0-rc2d the 0.3.1 series was branched from that version.

In August 2005 development shifted to a new subversion repository. All
old tar archives were imported. The last old-style archive in the 0.2.0 series
was ivtv-0.2.0-rc3k and the last archive in the 0.3.x series was ivtv-0.3.7k.

The 0.2 branch was closed with the release of the final 0.2.0 release. There
will be no more development on the 0.2 branch.

The first and last post-svn ivtv release in the 0.3 series was 0.3.8.

The 0.4 stable branch was created and development continues in the 0.5 unstable
series.

The 0.5 unstable series continued in the 0.6 stable branch, which was created
for 2.6.16 kernels.

The 0.7 stable branch was created for 2.6.17 kernels.

The 0.8 stable branch was created for 2.6.18 kernels.

The 0.9 stable branch was created for 2.6.19 kernels.

The 0.10 series replaces the 0.8 and 0.9 branches with a redesigned driver.
This driver supports kernels >= 2.6.18.
