This directory contains the ivtv downloads:

archive:  all ivtv releases ever made. If you need an older version
          then you should look here.
firmware: the recommended firmware files for use with ivtv.
stable:   the latest stable release.

If a new stable ivtv version is released, then the old
one will be moved to the archive directory.

Which ivtv version you need depends on your kernel:

kernels <= 2.6.15: ivtv-0.4.x
kernel 2.6.16:     ivtv-0.6.x
kernel 2.6.17:     ivtv-0.7.x
kernels >= 2.6.18: ivtv-0.10.x (this replaces the old 0.8.x and 0.9.x drivers)
kernels >= 2.6.22: ivtv-1.0.x
kernel 2.6.24:     ivtv-1.1.x
kernel 2.6.25:     ivtv-1.2.x

It is highly recommended to use the ivtv-0.10.x series or later.
The older drivers will not be actively maintained anymore.

NOTE: the ivtv driver has been merged with kernel 2.6.22. This means
that the ivtv-1.0.x archives no longer contain the ivtv driver proper,
only tools, utilities and the ivtvfb and saa717x drivers (which are
not yet part of the kernel).

In kernel 2.6.24 the ivtvfb driver was also merged, so the ivtv-1.1.x
and ivtv-1.2.x versions only have tools, utilities and the saa717x driver.
